Nanjing has an area called 1912, it is very similar to Xintiandi. Once you get in there, choose a bar and start overpaying for drinks it’ll be just like you never left Shanghai….
Whenever I go to XTD, it’s only to Kabb for happy hour. I know that area is lame, but Kabb is just like the Blue Frog with more pretty people.
Is overpaying for drinks at Nanjing prices the same as buying cheap drinks at Shanghai prices?
don’t mention the war!!
There wasn’t a war in 1912 dingle you nincompoop, everyone was too busy rocking out to that new Overture.
oh hang on, that might have been 1812
1912 is not a very place, really not good i think.
so you can go the hunan road for Luanshijiaren”乱世佳人” which is not bad.
hoho, 1912 is the YEAR when the Republic of China been created, and nanjing was its captital.
Sure, sure you never go to XTD… I read you blog. I seem to think that beers were about 60RMB, but it was a long night many years ago, so I can’t be trusted.
Actually though, there’s a lot to see in Nanjing – you can spend time in the center, there’s a river running past a temple which is fairly nice. I was told something about the wall facing the temple being the largest in China. I’d also take the time to visit the park that has the mausoleum of Sun Yat Sen.
Is Emma drinking Stella Artois? James you told me she was a cheap date! Enjoy Nanjing. My tip would be there’s a nice park by the station or something like that.
Nanjing has a famous music bandshell. It’s pretty chill! Oh it’s next to the Dr.Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum.
I’ve been in Nanjing for almost 9 months now, and all I know are the bars here.
If you like horrible house music and hip-hop, then yeah I guess you’d enjoy 1912. The upstairs area of the bar called Blue Marlin is all right though. Otherwise, go to the area near Nanjing Uni (nan da) and Nanjing Normal Uni (nan shi da); there are good bars over there.
If you go to Confucius Temple (fuzimiao), there is a store there that sells tasers (illegal in China) – the guy has big tasers and little ones, too – perfect for stray rabid cats in restaurants.
Nice red eyes, jimbo!!
