My tiny guitar
Since playing Guitar Hero III on the Wii, Emma has expressed an interest in learning to play the real thing. I said I’d teach her so we went down to Jinling Lu to pick one up. (I’ve already got one acoustic, but it’s a lot easier to teach someone if you both have your hands on the strings).
Originally I was going to get an electric guitar since I think they don’t cut into your fingers like cheese-wire, but after seeing this little beauty I could never love another.
The neck, and so the pitch, is the same as a full-size acoustic but the size of the body is dramatically cut down.
This means the sound is a lot quieter (handy in the apartment) and makes you want to pinch its adorable little cheeks.

looks like you are about to burst into ‘When I’m cleaning windows’
I thought that *was* the Wii guitar at first!
missbels- I went to London recently I had a look in a shop called “The Duke Of Uke” near Brick Lane- was very tempted to buy a Ukelele
— which is what George Formby played when he sang “When I’m Cleaning Windows –
but of course it’s England so they cost over 100 quid.
(And yes I know I should have called you when I was in London, but it was a flying visit and I forgot- sorry!)
WoAi- it’s way cuter than the Wii guitar, although the mini-stratocaster you get with Rock Band is close.
That is quality – reminded me of them ukes too. I’m really tempted to get one, they were sweet. I hope you can teach Emma to guitar and it doesn’t end up gathering dust in some corner of the Creegan mansion like that helicopter…
That helicopter is hard to fly indoors, the guitar is easier to manouver.
Helicopters are dead! Long live guitars!
Haha awesome. I don’t care how it sounds, it looks cool. If you feel like a jam let me know, I have a guitar, have played piano for 20 years.
surely it’s a normal sized guitar, it’s just your thighs that make it look big?
no worries, I have long since given up hope of a Creegan visit… :)
you’re not missing much missbels, he’s not properly housetrained, emma spends the whole time following him round with kitchen roll.
is that a proper fender or a chinese knockoff??!
I expect your first composition on your new toy to be an adaptation of this… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8linZiGYSeE
minus the sax solo.
By the way, I think someone must be messing with the space time continuum – your hand has almost completely disappeared.
I will be releasing an album called “My Tiny Guitar Gently Weeps” in October Owen, so you’ll have to wait until then to see if I cover that classic.
Max- when I was in Korea you could rent out a room (this room) that was full of drums, amps and stuff – do you know if that’s possible here? If so I’d be well up for it.
breeny- I think they’re properly Fender licensed, but it’s like a toy guitar for the game- no strings or anything.
dingle- I’m not so bad now, just the odd accident if I laugh at something on the TV
