Today was the big day: the first day of the Chinese Year of the Rat.
Me and her went to the epicentre of Chinesosity- Yu Gardens in the old town. It looks lovely with the red and gold decorations, snow on the flying roofs, everyone smiling as they close their shops early. After the sun went down we went home to eat roast duck with aubergine over the sound of fireworks for miles in every direction.
the red paper on the floor was a string of firecrackers
Tomorrow we take the train to Hong Kong for a few days holiday, life is good.
