We’re supposed to be in the middle of a proper Chinese typhoon at the moment; dragons cartwheeling through the sky, Rickshaws smashing into jade temples, the photos would be amazing.

Unfortunately though, the whole thing seems to have been hyped like a professional boxing match and I’ve seen barely any weather at all.

Instead then, I’ll say that at the weekend I went to a club called Bananas- the best night out in Shanghai in my opinion. Great music, fun people, good times. The two DJs had an MC who rapped over the top of the Rocky theme, beat-boxed, then had a random girl in the crowd get up and teach him how to line-dance for a couple of minutes. A big lad who was going crazy to any kind of rock song finally lost it during “Give It Away”, danced on the stage and showed off his tattoos. It’s a great, big sweaty mess where you get covered in beer and never know what’s coming next- don’t wear spats.
